Damzinir (2834 Foreven): A new colonization effort has begun on this small world in the Halverdi Cluster, spearheaded by the Damzinir-Telliz Colonial Service Corporation based on Iderati (0732 Spinward Marches). At 0745 hours, the colonial transport Kaagira Constant landed with the first load of colonists recruited from the Spinward Marches. Without ceremony, the initial 75 colonists debarked and began construction of temporary shelters, apparently eager to get underway with their new lives. Additional work crews, mostly mining specialists employed by Damzinir-Telliz, began carving out more permanent homes in the side of a cliff beside the landing site. According to Damzinir-Telliz, the initial colony effort is targeted at 500 individuals to set up basic infrastructure and support facilities. Once that phase is complete, up to 3000 additional colonists will be added to expand those facilities and establish a series of mining operations for a variety of minerals. Initial surveys showed promising traces rhenium, palladium, and iridium. Damzinir is somewhat of a latecomer to the colonization efforts in the Halverdi Cluster due to it's environment. The average surface temperature is -54 degrees C, the air pressure is a mere 1/3 of standard, and the surface is exposed to high levels of UV radiation due to the thin atmosphere. Despite the harsh conditions, the directors of Damzinir-Telliz Colonial spoke very confidently about the success of the colony. "Is it a difficult environment? Definitely. But we've recruited some of the best available personnel, we have top notch equipment, and a common goal. Since each colonist has a stake in the effort, we expect this endeavor to be profitable for all involved."

TNS Foreven News (Historical Archive)  225-0930
Iazplrabr (0720 Foreven) continues to suffer under the effects of the disease known locally as dranzhtlas (the sun death).  The colony here, established by the Zhodani corporation ladria Vlovl to support shipping to Obledliej (0422 Foreven), first reported this disease five months ago.  Dranzhtlas manifests as photodermatitis, making victims extremely sensitive to UV radiation, with chills, fever, nausea, and rapid darkening of exposed skin.  Prolonged exposure can lead to death.  The causes of this disease are unknown, but thought to possibly be a reaction with something in the atmosphere.  ladria Vlovl representatives assure the public that a team of experts have been called in, and are expected to arrive within the next month.

As I add more to the Bastards of Foreven, I'll be posting more Traveller News Service snippets as I go.  They'll either be current news (roughly 1105 Imperial) or historical notes from before that period.  These will be cross posted to my Patreon activity feed and my DSL Ironworks facebook page.  Created modules will be posted to the Patreon activity feed as soon as they are completed, and will be released as products down the road a bit.

My Patreon page is up!

Greetings, friends, Travellers, and gamers!

I want to take a moment to let you know I have set up an account on Patreon, where you can support me as I detail the Bastards of Foreven setting and get yourself some great gaming material and other rewards in the process.  For those of you who might not know about Patreon, it's a new way to crowd-fund content creators, sort of like Kickstarter with a couple of twists.  Rather than fund one specific project for a defined period, Patreon allows you to support your favorite artists over the long term.  It's simple to use, customizable to your budget, and allows you to get material on an ongoing basis.  Here's how it works.

1. Head over to my Patreon page here: http://www.patreon.com/dslironworks.  Check out my goals and the various reward tiers.  If one catches your eye, then ...
2. Click on "Become a Patron".  Create an account with the information requested.
3. If you'd like a sample of what kind of content I'll be releasing, click on the "Activity" tab above the Bastards of Foreven logo.  There will be a couple of articles posted there.  The first is a "TNS Foreven" update, detailing an event similar to the old Traveller News Service for the Foreven Sector.  The other is a sample of the content I'll be releasing (typically 3-5 per month), in this case the Vendian Sky class yacht.

As a patron, when I finish a module (which can include a subsector, planet, ship, vehicle, location, organization, NPC, alien, animal, or adventure), it will be posted in the Patreon feed for you to download immediately - no waiting for me to release another product!  In addition, TNS updates and flavor text will be released in the activity feed, even if you're not a patron.  You can get in on this for $1.00 per month, for 3-5 releases.  Higher support levels add rewards - chat sessions on Google Hangout, copies of the finished PDF release when it's done, discounts on printed products, and even copies of the 3d meshes I use to create the Bastards of Foreven!

Thank you so much for supporting me in this endeavor!  I can't wait to start showing you around!  Coming soon for my patrons - the Zhodani Chatl-class Leader Scout ship, the PDF map of the Foreven sector (24"x36", with interactive layers), similar 8.5"x11" maps and details for each of the 16 subsectors, and more.

Thanks again!

The Zhodani are coming - Chatl-class Scout Leader

Dug into a new ship yesterday, and it came together faster than I thought it would.  Modeled in one day, textured today.  All that remains are some minor detail work and texture tweaks.  More to come - I'm in a Zho groove.
